Poker cards are popular and in demand. Poker tables and poker tournaments need hundreds and thousands of poker cards, because eventually cards get overused and damaged. There are also poker card collectors who collect novelty and specialty poker cards. The specialty card that you will be making is the wooden specialty poker card. For this wooden poker card you need sufficient wood, a hand saw, paint, and a carver. You can easily get the materials at a hardware store and depending on your choice; you can use either hard wood or plywood. So head to the hardware store and buy the materials which should not exceed $100.

Once everything is ready and set, you can start cutting the wood into the desired wooden poker card pieces. Once this is done, you can use the carver and sandpaper to even out the ends and sides of the wooden poker card. Once the sides are even you have two options for the wooden poker card design; either you carve in the design and the numbers and pictures, or you paint them straight on the wooden poker card.

When making your wooden poker card design with the carver you design the picture first and then follow the design with the carver. Once this is done, you may opt for any color of your choice to follow the linings of your carving or fill out the entire piece. If you have opted for the painting option, then it is advisable to draw the design with a pencil on the wooden poker card so that the design will be alike. Choose colors that have a good contrast against the brown of the wood, like white or other bright colors.

Once everything about your wooden poker card has been made, you should use an overcoat painting to protect your wooden poker cards from natural influences and from termites. The cherry on top of the icing of the wooden poker card set would be a special wooden poker card box where you can store your specialty wooden poker cards. You can use the leftover wood to make your wooden poker card storage box and you can use your carver to create a special design on the lid, like your initials for example.
