Season 6 of the World Poker Tour: The Borgata Poker Open

As one of the finest casino hotels in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the Borgata Hotel, Casino and Spa sponsors a world-class poker tournament almost annually yearly under the World Poker Tour brand. After years of featuring highly successful events for the past several years, the tour plans to continue its legacy of providing competitive and first-class poker games and competitions. In an effort to improve its offerings, the brand conceptualized and organized the Borgata Poker Open to solidify its reputation as the premier source of excellent poker tournaments.

From September 16 to 20, 2007, the World Poker Tour was at the spotlight when it featured the Borgata Poker Open. The event was indeed very huge as some of the most popular poker players of the world convened in one huge poker event and an ultimate display of poker skills and talents. After the players bought their way into the tournament by paying as much as $10,000 each, the action started in what would become one of the best finishes in international poker competition history.

All throughout the duration of the different events, a total of 560 poker veterans and up-and-coming poker superstars were able to participate at the Borgata Poker Open. Because of the large number of participating players, the event was able to provide $5,432,000 in prize pool to the various achievers of the competition. After days of engaging in high quality competitions, the number of players was eventually trimmed down to six as they reached the final table of the event.

Entering the final round of the World Poker Tour Borgata Poker Open tournament, the chip leaders were Roy Winston, Heung Yoon, and Mike Matusow. Meanwhile, Eugene Todd, Haralabos Voulgaris, and Mark Weitzman also brought their decent shares of chips to compete with the remaining final table competitors. As the poker action pushed through, Matusow became the first casualty of the game by being eliminated in the early parts of the final game.

A few moments later, Todd also suffered the same fate as Matusow, leaving the final table of the Borgata Poker Open despite being eager to continue and move on into the deeper parts of the final round. After a few more rounds, it was time for Weitzman to bid goodbye from the competition, which is soon to be followed by Voulgaris. After building a very strong momentum into the final table event, there seems to be no stopping Winston as he used his chip advantage to dominate his face-off against Yoon at the final round of the event.
